Kebbi Governor Nasir Idris Dismisses Defection Rumours: “I’ll Be the Last Man Standing in APC”

Kebbi State Governor, Dr. Nasir Idris, has firmly denied reports suggesting that he and four other governors are planning to defect from the All Progressives Congress (APC).

In a statement issued on Sunday, Idris described the rumoured defections as “ridiculously malicious,” calling those behind the speculation “uninteresting political comedians.”

Responding to social media claims linking him to a coalition allegedly spearheaded by former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, the governor reaffirmed his unwavering loyalty to the APC.

“For the avoidance of doubt, I am not a political prostitute. I am made in APC, by APC, and for APC,” Idris stated.

He made it clear that he had no intentions of abandoning the party, emphasizing:

“If they tell you again that Kaura is likely to leave his APC, tell them I will be the last man standing.”

Popularly known as Kauran Gwandu, Idris pledged continued commitment to the people of Kebbi State and to the vision of President Bola Tinubu. He stressed that his focus remains on delivering good governance and consolidating APC’s achievements across the state.

The statement, signed by his Chief Press Secretary, Ahmed Idris, reaffirmed Kebbi State’s status as a stronghold of the APC, dismissing rumours of disloyalty as nothing more than a “dance of mad fellows in the marketplace.”

Governor Idris concluded by assuring the people of Kebbi of his steadfast dedication to their welfare and the state’s sustained growth under the APC-led administration.
