In a historic first, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu arrived in Anambra State on Thursday, embarking on his maiden official visit to the southeastern state with a mission to unveil a string of groundbreaking infrastructure projects spearheaded by Governor Charles Chukwuma Soludo.
Touching down at the Chinua Achebe International Airport in Awka at approximately 12:15 PM, Tinubu was warmly received by Governor Soludo and other top dignitaries amid fanfare and tight security.
But the real headline? Anambra State, after over three decades of existence, finally gets its own Government House.
For 34 years, the state operated from a makeshift facility in Amawbia a location even outside the official capital, Awka. Today, that anomaly ends as President Tinubu officially inaugurates what is being hailed as the largest and greenest state house in Nigeria, built across nearly 8 hectares of land.
“This is a moment of pride for Ndi Anambra,” said the state’s Commissioner for Works, Ifeanyi Okoma, during a live interview on Sunrise Daily on Channels Television. “Governor Soludo has changed the narrative. For the first time, we can truly say Anambra has a befitting seat of power.”
Okoma highlighted that the new Government House reflects Soludo’s commitment to sustainable architecture and visionary governance.
In addition to the Government House, President Tinubu is expected to inaugurate several other legacy projects championed by the Soludo administration, including the Solution Fun City a modern recreational and civic engagement center designed to serve as a hub for innovation, youth development, and tourism.
This visit marks Tinubu’s second trip to the South-East this year, following his stop in Enugu in January. He is also scheduled to host a town hall meeting with critical stakeholders in the region, signaling the administration’s renewed effort to strengthen ties with the zone.
With this visit, both the Federal Government and the Soludo-led administration are sending a clear message: Anambra is no longer on the margins it’s taking center stage.
