Nine new Resident Electoral Commissioners (RECs): The Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Chief Ajuri Ngelale, made this announcement in a statement on Wednesday, citing the powers vested in the President by Section 154 (1) of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria (1999, Amended) and Section 6 of the Electoral Act (2022).
The newly appointed RECs are Mr. Isah Shaka Ehimeakne for Edo, Mr. Bamidele Agbede for Ekiti, Mr. Jani Adamu Bello for Gombe, Dr. Taiye Ilayasu for Kwara, Dr. Bunmi Omoseyindemi for Lagos, Alhaji Yahaya Bello for Nasarawa, Prof. Mohammed Yalwa for Niger, Dr. Anugbum Onuoha for Rivers, and Mr. Abubakar Fawa Dambo for Zamfara.
According to the statement, President Tinubu emphasized the expectation that the new appointees will uphold the highest standards of professional and ethical conduct in the execution of their responsibilities.
