Adebayo Predicts Tinubu’s Ouster in 2027, Declares SDP Will Take Power
Barrister Adewole Adebayo, the 2023 presidential candidate of the Social Democratic Party (SDP), has boldly declared that President Bola Tinubu will not secure re-election in 2027, asserting that his party will produce the next Nigerian leader.
Speaking on Arise Television’s The Morning Show on Friday, Adebayo exuded confidence about his party’s prospects, stating unequivocally that Tinubu’s tenure will be cut short at the ballot box.
“Tinubu is going to be removed from power, that one is sure, and there will be an SDP president,” he stated emphatically.
Aspirations for the Presidency
Further cementing his political ambitions, Adebayo confirmed his intention to contest again in 2027, expressing confidence that he would secure the SDP’s presidential ticket regardless of the increasing number of political heavyweights defecting to the party.
He dismissed concerns about competition within the SDP, maintaining that he is undeterred by new entrants.
“Let us understand something. I don’t worry about that; everybody who is coming in knows I will run in 2027. Any coward who feels threatened by people joining his party cannot be president,” he remarked.
El-Rufai’s Defection and Political Maneuvering
Adebayo’s comments come on the heels of the recent defection of former Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, to the SDP. El-Rufai’s move has sparked speculation about the party’s internal dynamics and possible realignment of power.
Since his defection on Monday, El-Rufai has reportedly been working behind the scenes to attract more politicians to the SDP, a development that has fueled speculation about potential rivalries within the party.
Despite these shifts, Adebayo downplayed concerns, describing El-Rufai as a valuable addition to the party.
“The reason why I welcome El-Rufai to my party is that I see him as a patriotic Nigerian, hardworking, and very effective in an area where we don’t have effective people in government, that’s all,” Adebayo stated.
Political Landscape Ahead of 2027
Adebayo’s assertion that Tinubu will be removed from office underscores the growing anticipation and political maneuvering ahead of the next presidential election. With defections and shifting alliances gaining momentum, the 2027 elections are shaping up to be highly competitive.
