A’Ibom Cleric Calls for End to Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan’s Disruptive Feud with Senate President Akpabio

Apostle Unyime Nkanta, the General Overseer of the Frontline Missionary Church in Ekom, Iman, Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, has called for the urgent resolution of the disruptive feud instigated by Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan against Senate President Godswill Akpabio. The cleric emphasized that the ongoing controversy is damaging Nigeria’s international reputation and distracting from pressing national issues.

The dispute, which originated from a minor misunderstanding over seating arrangements in the Upper Legislative Chamber, escalated when Akpoti-Uduaghan, representing Kogi Central, appeared on Arise TV and leveled unsubstantiated allegations of sexual harassment against Akpabio, who represents Akwa Ibom North West. Rather than seeking an internal resolution, Akpoti-Uduaghan chose to air unverified accusations in the media, further deepening divisions within the Senate.

Following the sensational allegations, the feud has descended into a series of lawsuits and countersuits, diverting attention from legislative duties. Many political analysts and observers have questioned the credibility of Akpoti-Uduaghan’s claims, arguing that they appear to be a politically motivated attempt to discredit the Senate President.

Speaking to journalists on Sunday after a church service, Apostle Nkanta revealed that he had received divine inspiration to pray for wisdom for the Senate President even before the controversy erupted. He stressed that had wisdom been applied, this matter would have been handled internally without escalating into a public spectacle.

“We prayed for Nigeria, and it was during this intercession that I received an instruction to specifically pray for the Senate President to be granted wisdom in managing the affairs of the Senate,” Nkanta said. “This was before the current incident. If wisdom had prevailed, we would not be witnessing this public debacle.”

The cleric condemned the needless controversy, arguing that it detracts from real issues affecting the nation. “At a time when Nigerians are grappling with economic challenges, this kind of distraction is the last thing we need. Instead of focusing on governance and solutions, we are dealing with baseless accusations that only serve to tarnish our image before the international community.”

Nkanta further expressed optimism that Nigeria’s economy would recover if the government remained focused on constructive policies rather than being sidetracked by manufactured scandals. He pointed out the recent decline in fuel prices as an encouraging sign that the administration is making progress.

“Rather than sensationalism and unnecessary disputes, we should be discussing how to improve the economy and make life better for the common man. The focus should be on economic recovery, infrastructure, and policies that will benefit Nigerians, not unfounded allegations that serve personal or political agendas.”

The cleric also urged leaders to remain committed to national unity and governance, rather than engaging in unnecessary conflicts that undermine public trust. He called on public officials to avoid divisive politics and instead work towards collective progress.

As the controversy continues to unfold, many Nigerians are calling for an end to the distractions caused by Akpoti-Uduaghan’s actions. With pressing issues like inflation, unemployment, and security challenges facing the country, the need for responsible and focused leadership has never been more urgent.
