Rajasthan Election 2023 It seems that the BJP has secured a significant victory in the Rajasthan Assembly elections, winning 115 seats out of the 199 contested. The Congress, on the other hand, secured 69 seats. The BJP’s victory is attributed to the influence of identity politics and the acceptance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s “guarantee of delivering on guarantees,” as evidenced by his rallies during the election campaign.
The BJP’s success in eastern Rajasthan districts is notable, where its seat tally increased from one to 13, while the Congress’ seats fell from 20 to eight. This shift is attributed to the BJP’s focus on identity politics and the Congress making the Eastern Rajasthan Canal Project (ERCP) a poll issue in the region.
The election results also mark a setback for Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot, who was hoping to overcome anti-incumbency with his welfare schemes and guarantees. However, 17 out of the 25 ministers in the Congress government, including key figures like Govind Ram Meghwal, lost in the elections.
BJP President J.P. Nadda credited the victories to Prime Minister Modi’s leadership, emphasizing that the election results demonstrate that only Modi’s guarantee works in India. He criticized the Opposition for allegedly trying to divide the country on caste lines.
The Congress’ twin plank of OBC outreach and welfarism did not resonate strongly with voters, leading to a severe setback for the party. The election results are seen as a semi-final before the 2024 Lok Sabha polls, prompting discussions about the Congress recalibrating its strategy.
Prime Minister Modi expressed confidence in the people of Rajasthan, terming the victories in Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, and Chhattisgarh as historic. He emphasized the idea of ‘Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas’ and accused opposition parties, especially the Congress, of attempting to divide the country based on castes.
Rajasthan Election 2023 In response to the results, Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot submitted his resignation to Governor Kalraj Mishra. The BJP is now set to form the government in Rajasthan, marking a significant political shift in the state. Source thedailycourierng news
