Bode George Slams Atiku, ADC Coalition: “You Can’t Serve Two Masters
Veteran politician and former Deputy National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Chief Bode George, has issued a scathing rebuke to opposition leaders backing the new ADC-led coalition, accusing them of political duplicity and hypocrisy.
In a blunt appearance on Channels Television’s Sunrise Daily, George criticized former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, ex-Senate President David Mark, and others who still lay claim to PDP membership while championing the African Democratic Congress (ADC) as a new political front ahead of the 2027 elections.
“You can’t serve two masters,” George declared. “You’re either in PDP or you’re not. Claiming to be in both is deceitful and dishonest.”
He alleged that many of those now positioning themselves as saviors of democracy were the very architects of the internal crisis that fractured the PDP particularly Atiku and Mark who, he said, manipulated the 2022 PDP convention to favor northern dominance against party unity.
“This is the house that made them,” George added, referring to the PDP. “When a house has a leaking roof, you don’t abandon it you fix it.”
The outspoken party elder described the newly formed coalition as lacking both strategy and vision, branding the move as one of “existential imbecility” and a “classless political scramble” driven by wounded egos rather than national interest.
He dismissed the ADC coalition as an unstable alliance of serial party-switchers and political opportunists.
“This new coalition isn’t a movement for change. It’s just a temporary shelter for men desperate to reclaim relevance,” George said.
On Wednesday, a high-profile gathering of opposition figures unveiled ADC as their official platform to challenge President Bola Tinubu in 2027. Interim leadership was handed to David Mark (Chairman) and Rauf Aregbesola (Secretary).
Among attendees were Peter Obi, Nasir El-Rufai, Rotimi Amaechi, Aminu Tambuwal, Dino Melaye, and Dele Momodu an assemblage George described as more united by political ambition than ideology.
As the 2027 race heats up, Chief Bode George’s comments lay bare the widening cracks within Nigeria’s opposition and raise tough questions about loyalty, leadership, and the credibility of those hoping to unseat the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
