Tinubu’s Academic Records: Chicago State University Releases Tinubu’s Academic Records to Atiku Abubakar
Chicago State University (CSU), located in the United States of America, has complied with a United States District Court order by releasing the academic records of President Bola Tinubu to former Vice President Atiku Abubakar.
On Monday, the CSU provided Atiku with the requested documents in accordance with the court’s ruling from the United States District Court in the Northern District of Illinois. The court order was issued despite objections from President Tinubu.
The district judge made a ruling, stating, “For the foregoing reasons, the court overrules President Tinubu’s objections to Magistrate Judge Gilbert’s recommended ruling and therefore adopts the ruling in full.”
Atiku’s application for Tinubu’s academic records was granted, and an expedited schedule for the completion of discovery was established due to the pending deadline before the Supreme Court of Nigeria, set for October 5, 2023. The court directed CSU to produce all relevant and non-privileged documents in response to requests for production.
In response to Atiku’s specific request for “A true and correct copy of any diploma issued by CSU in 1979 to Mr. Tinubu,” the US university stated, “CSU does not, in the ordinary course, keep copies of student diplomas, and after the diligent search, it cannot locate a copy of the original diploma it prepared for Mr. Tinubu in 1979, hence, it has no documents responsive to this request.”
Atiku plans to use CSU Tinubu’s Academic Records academic record as part of his appeal to the Supreme Court, where he is challenging Tinubu’s victory in the February 25 presidential election.
