FCT Minister Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), dispelled rumors on Wednesday, October 18, denying allegations that his administration in Abuja was promoting policies antagonistic to Islamic religious principles. Wike emphasized that those attempting to stoke religious tensions were doing so for ulterior political motives.

During a courtesy visit by members of the Abuja National Mosque Management Committee, chaired by the Etsu of Nupe, His Royal Highness Alhaji Yahaya Abubakar, Wike affirmed that he had no intention of fostering hate speech against any religious group, but rather aimed to support any legitimate cause.

Furthermore, FCT Minister Nyesom assured that the FCT was committed to backing the maintenance of the National Mosque and the National Ecumenical Centre, both of which have been recognized as national monuments. He urged religious leaders to preach national unity and foster peaceful coexistence.

In response, the Etsu Nupe urged the Minister to provide support for the ongoing maintenance project of the National Mosque, which has encountered delays. Additionally, he appealed for the Committee to be granted more time to develop the plots of land allocated to them by FCTA.

Further details will be provided shortly. Source thedailycourierng news
