FG Declares Friday, June 6, and Monday, June 9, Public Holidays for Eid-ul-Adha

The Federal Government has officially declared Friday, June 6, and Monday, June 9, 2025, as public holidays to celebrate Eid-ul-Adha, one of the most important festivals in the Islamic calendar.

This announcement was made by the Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, in a statement released through the ministry’s Permanent Secretary, Magdalene Ajani, on Monday, June 2.

Tunji-Ojo extended warm congratulations to all Muslim faithful in Nigeria and abroad, encouraging them to reflect on the true meaning of the season.

“Eid-ul-Adha reminds us of the values of sacrifice, obedience, and faith, as demonstrated by Prophet Ibrahim (Peace be upon him),” the Minister said.

He also urged Muslims and all Nigerians to take this time to pray for peace, unity, and prosperity in the country.

The Minister assured the public that the current administration, under President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, is working tirelessly to put Nigeria back on the path of growth and national pride.

“Let’s all come together to build a greater Nigeria,” he added.

As the celebrations approach, Nigerians can now look forward to a long weekend of reflection, prayer, and family bonding.

Wishing all our Muslim brothers and sisters a joyful and peaceful Eid-ul-Adha!
