FirstBank has issued a statement to clarify misinformation concerning a recent system upgrade, emphasizing that the message in question was intended solely for its vendors.
Folake Ani-Mumuney, Group Head of Marketing and Corporate Communications at FirstBank, explained on Friday that the communication had been misinterpreted. The notice was meant to inform vendors about the bank’s transition from its current platform, I-Supplier—an automated system that connects FirstBank to suppliers—to a new cloud-based supplier platform.
“We wish to address misleading reports circulating in the media about a system upgrade at FirstBank,” Ani-Mumuney said. “The message, which was inaccurately reported, was intended for our vendors only. It detailed our shift from the I-Supplier Platform, an automated platform connecting us to suppliers, to a new cloud-based supplier system. This upgrade aims to offer additional capabilities and benefits to our vendors.”
Ani-Mumuney stressed that no system upgrade is currently affecting FirstBank’s core banking services. “All our customer applications are fully operational. We are not experiencing any disruption to our services, and our banking systems, customer transactions, and channels remain unaffected by the enhancements to the supplier platform.”
The transition to the new cloud-based supplier system is scheduled to take place between October 26 and November 3, 2024, with the platform expected to be fully operational by November 4, 2024.
FirstBank reassured the public of its commitment to delivering uninterrupted services and maintaining smooth operations for its customers.
Earlier, on October 7, FirstBank announced the full restoration of services on its mobile banking platform, FirstMobile, after disruptions caused by a recent upgrade. Ani-Mumuney confirmed that FirstMobile is now fully operational.
