Lagos APC Unveils LG Election Candidates, Set to Flag Off Campaign Tuesday
The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Lagos State has announced that it will formally kick off its campaign for the July 12 Local Government Elections on Tuesday, June 17, with a grand flag presentation ceremony at the party’s State Secretariat in Ogba.
According to the party’s Publicity Secretary, Mr. Seye Oladejo, the event will see the official presentation of party flags to chairmanship and councillorship candidates who emerged victorious during the APC primaries held on May 10 across the 20 Local Government Areas (LGAs), 37 Local Council Development Areas (LCDAs), and 377 wards.
Oladejo revealed that the campaign strategy has been decentralized across the three senatorial districts Lagos East, Central, and the expansive Lagos West, which has been split into two zones to ensure wider outreach and better coordination.
“The flag-off will be witnessed by party chieftains, as well as elected and appointed officials from all tiers of government,” Oladejo stated in a press release issued Saturday.
To deepen grassroots mobilisation, the party leadership has directed the formation of Local Organizing Committees (LOCs) in all LGAs and LCDAs. These LOCs are expected to carry the campaign into every “nook, cranny, and corner” of the state, engaging with voters and articulating the party’s agenda.
The APC campaign, Oladejo added, will spotlight the “unprecedented achievements” of the outgoing council administrations, including various social intervention programmes. The party will also promise to build on these successes, aligning with what he called the APC’s “progressive philosophy.”
“We urge all eligible voters to perform their civic responsibility and come out to vote massively on election day,” he said, emphasizing the importance of democratic participation.
The campaign is expected to end a day before the election, in line with Nigeria’s electoral laws.
As the countdown to July 12 begins, all eyes will be on the APC to see how it mobilizes support and navigates internal cohesion amid growing public scrutiny and emerging political alternatives at the grassroots level.
