No Apologies for Revoking Okorocha’s Land Wike Vows to Reclaim Unpaid FCT Properties
Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has declared that he has no regrets over revoking land belonging to former Imo State governor, Rochas Okorocha, warning that the FCT Administration will continue repossessing properties from owners who fail to pay their ground rent.
Wike made the remarks during the 60th birthday celebration of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) National Secretary, Samuel Anyanwu, held over the weekend at the newly renovated Bola Ahmed Tinubu International Conference Centre in Abuja.
Addressing dignitaries at the event, including senators and political associates, Wike reaffirmed his administration’s resolve to enforce payment of statutory land rents. “Rochas Okorocha is here, he is my boss — even though I revoked his land because the right thing must be done, he remains my man,” Wike stated bluntly.
He warned property owners across the FCT that failure to fulfill their obligations would result in the forfeiture of their land. “Yes, if you don’t pay, I will take back our property,” he insisted.
Highlighting the recent renovations carried out by Julius Berger at the conference centre, Wike argued that such progress was only possible through effective revenue collection. “Pay and you will get the best services. You are already getting the best services under the leadership of President Tinubu,” he added.
Wike concluded by emphasizing that he makes no apologies for upholding the law, asserting his commitment to ensuring Abuja residents comply with ground rent regulations.
