One Killed in Truck Crash on Third Mainland Bridge

A tragic road mishap occurred late Thursday night on the Third Mainland Bridge, claiming the life of one individual, the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) has confirmed.

In an official statement shared via LASTMA’s verified X (formerly Twitter) account, the lone accident transpired close to the UNILAG Waterfront, en route to Adekunle.

Preliminary reports indicate that the crash involved a fully-loaded mini truck that apparently veered out of control before colliding violently. The impact resulted in the death of a yet-to-be-identified victim.

LASTMA disclosed that its personnel were promptly deployed to the scene to restore order and ensure minimal traffic disruption across the busy route.

“A lone accident involving a loaded mini truck occurred near the UNILAG Waterfront on the Third Mainland Bridge, heading inward Adekunle,” the agency stated.

“Tragically, one fatality has been recorded. Our officers are on site, managing traffic and facilitating swift recovery efforts.”

As of the time of filing this report, the identity of the deceased had not been released.

This incident adds to the growing concern over vehicular safety on Lagos highways, especially on critical arteries such as the Third Mainland Bridge.
