ABUJA – Intense internal tensions have erupted within the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) as a National Executive Committee (NEC) member, Hon Umar Abdullahi, publicly criticized the PDP Governors Forum for escalating the party’s leadership dispute.

The conflict centers on the contested National Secretary position, with competing claims by Senator Samuel Anyanwu and Hon. Sunday Ude-Okoye.

Abdullahi accused the Governors Forum of overstepping their authority by publicly supporting Ude-Okoye based on court judgments, despite a pending Board of Trustees (BoT) fact-finding committee investigation.

“The Governors are supposed to deploy internal conflict resolution mechanisms before public pronouncements,” Abdullahi stated.

Key Points of Contention:

Governors Forum backed Ude-Okoye, citing Enugu State High Court and Appeal Court judgments

Anyanwu claims a stay of execution order from an Abuja Appeal Court

BoT planned to set up a committee to review the matter

Anyanwu alleges document forgery in the legal proceedings

The dispute highlights deepening fractures within the PDP, raising questions about the party’s internal governance and conflict resolution mechanisms.

The situation remains fluid, with potential implications for the party’s organizational stability.
