Pearl Harbor Day: Eighty-two years ago on December 7, 1941, the Japanese Imperial Navy launched a surprise attack on the United States Navy Base at Harbor, Hawaii, marking a pivotal moment in history. To commemorate the anniversary of this tragic event, the Virginia War Museum is hosting a memorial ceremony on Thursday.
The attack, which occurred without warning, resulted in the loss of at least 2,403 American military personnel, including 41 Virginians, and left another 1,178 injured. This act of aggression catapulted the United States into World War II.
The Pearl Harbor Day Ceremony is scheduled from 4 to 5 p.m. and will feature a brief film screening highlighting the stories of Virginian survivors. The program will also include a wreath-laying ceremony at the Pearl Harbor Memorial located in Huntington Park. This event is free and open to the public, offering an opportunity for reflection and remembrance. Source thedailycourierng news
