In a significant ruling, the Presidential Election Petitions Tribunal has upheld the victory of President Bola Tinubu in the February 25 presidential election. The tribunal’s five-member panel, presided over by Justice Haruna Tsammani, delivered this verdict, effectively dismissing the petitions filed by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and its presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, as well as the Labour Party and its candidate, Peter Obi. Both parties had contested the election results announced by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) on March 1.
In this election, President Tinubu secured a total of 8,794,726 votes, surpassing his opponents, Atiku Abubakar and Peter Obi, who garnered 6,984,520 and 6,101,533 votes, respectively.
Justice Haruna Tsammani, leading the Presidential Election Petitions Tribunal, declared, “This petition accordingly lacks merit. I affirm the return of Bola Ahmed Tinubu as the duly elected President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. The parties are to bear their cost.”
The unanimous decision by the five-member tribunal, consisting of Justice Haruna Tsammani, Justice Stephen Adah, Justice Mistura Bolaji-Yusuf, Justice Boloukuoromo Ugo, and Justice Abba Mohammed, solidifies President Tinubu’s position as the rightful winner of the presidential election.Thedailycourierng news and updates
