The Kaduna State Council of Imams and Ulamamas has claimed that some people are behind the non-confirmation of former Governor Nasir El-rufai as minister.
According to the Courierng News, former Governor Nasir El-rufai’s confirmation as minister was halted by the Senate due to delays in his security checks.
However, during a news conference in Kaduna, the Ulamas criticized El-Rufai’s non-confirmation, claiming that some individuals who are concerned by El-Rufai’s appointment and towering political image are behind his ordeal.

According to Imam Muhammad Kasshim, Deputy Chairman of the Council of Imams and Ulamas, the former governor was not confirmed due to simple politics of revenge and misuse of power by some people.
According to him, it was incorrect for security agencies to have relied on a plea by a Shiite group not to confirm El-Rufai, adding that the Shiite organization has been proscribed by the Federal Government, thus their petition should not have been accepted.
The Ulamas described the petitions against El-Rufai by Shiites and others as outrageous and unfounded and urged the Senate to disregard the unfounded allegations against the former Governor and confirm him based on his competency and contribution to the success of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the last election.
