TCN Restores Power to Bayelsa and Rivers After Transmission Line Repair
The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has successfully restored electricity to Bayelsa and parts of Rivers State. This follows the repair of the vandalized 132kV Owerri–Ahoada transmission line.
Successful Repair and Restoration
On April 11, TCN reconnected the transmission line to the grid at 6:00 PM. The damage had caused the collapse of transmission towers 71 to 74. These towers were vandalized on March 11, leading to power outages in these regions.
Power Supply Resumes in Affected Areas
Now that the transmission line is restored, the Port Harcourt Electricity Distribution Company (PHEDC) can supply electricity to Bayelsa and parts of Rivers. The restoration is a significant relief to these communities, which had been without power for over a month.
Vandalism Prevention and Community Involvement
Mrs. Ndidi Mbah, TCN’s General Manager for Public Affairs, emphasized the company’s dedication to providing reliable power. She urged local communities to help prevent further vandalism of critical infrastructure. “Everyone must play a role in protecting these vital installations,” she said.
