Representing Mrs. Iruma at the event, Mr. Emeka Ugwu, Assistant Director of Information at NYSC, Anambra State, expressed the belief that the Healthy Living project aligns with the NYSC’s Health Initiative for Rural Dwellers and should be embraced and reproduced in all 179 communities in the state. He highlighted that the NYSC has a cadre of corps doctors, pharmacists, nurses, physiotherapists, and other paramedics who can effectively contribute to the initiative.

The comprehensive initiative includes various aspects such as free sensitization campaigns, medical checkups, counseling, diagnosis, referral services, and prescriptions. Mrs. Iruma emphasized that communities seeking NYSC’s medical outreach assistance would be required to provide the necessary drugs for use on the designated day.

The Healthy Living project encompasses critical areas like nutrition, environmental sanitation, personal hygiene, relaxation, exercise, walks, health education, routine medical checkups, and community-shared values. Mrs. Iruma called on ASATU Youths to raise awareness in their communities about the collaboration between NYSC and the First Lady of Anambra State. Furthermore, she encouraged them to extend invitations to NYSC for community-based programs aimed at promoting a healthy lifestyle among rural dwellers.

This initiative underscores the commitment of the National Youth Service Corps NYSC to community development and public health, leveraging its resources and expertise to positively impact the well-being of residents in various communities. As the program unfolds, it is expected to contribute significantly to improving health awareness and outcomes across Anambra State. Source thedailycourierng news
