UK Probe Finds No Stolen Nigerian Funds Linked to Diezani.
Legal luminary, Prof. Mike Ozekhome, SAN, has debunked persistent allegations of corruption against former Minister of Petroleum Resources, Diezani Alison-Madueke, stating that no stolen Nigerian funds have ever been traced to her by UK authorities.
In a statement titled “There is no such thing as Diezani Loot,” Ozekhome revealed that despite nearly a decade of investigations, Alison-Madueke has not been charged with misappropriating public funds. He emphasized that the allegations against her are based on unverified narratives and public misinformation, not concrete evidence.
He cited the recent case of the “Galactica Yacht,” allegedly linked to Diezani, as an example of misinformation, clarifying that she neither owned nor saw the yacht.
Ozekhome also highlighted court rulings that exonerated parties involved in the Strategic Alliance Agreement (SAA), emphasizing that Diezani’s actions as minister adhered to due process.
He further revealed that the former minister had undergone chemotherapy for cancer before her detention in the UK and continues to face public vilification despite her health challenges.
Calling for fairness, Ozekhome urged the public to allow the UK legal process to run its course without prejudice.
“Let the law take its natural course. It is time to stop the vilification of an innocent Nigerian citizen,” he concluded.
