President Bola Tinubu’s cabinet took off Wednesday, 84 days after he took office, with the president imploring his 45 current ministers to serve Nigeria with “integrity, dignity, and deliver” in their various duties, rather than serving their states and regions.
Tinubu said during the swearing-in ceremony for the 45 current ministers at the State House Conference Centre (Old Banquet Hall) in Abuja that the country is currently facing “daunting” challenges and that the ministers must implement “long overdue” reforms to restore the citizenry’s faith in government.
Tinubu stated that the current ministers’ duty begins immediately and that they must meet Nigerians’ expectations.
He informed the incoming cabinet members that they were Nigeria’s ministers, not ministers of a region or state.
Mr. President said
“I expect you to serve with integrity, dignity, and deliver,” he added. I will hold you accountable to the standard that we all promised Nigerians. Your task will begin immediately.
“As your country honors you today with this call to service, you must each work to prove yourself worthy in the eyes of God and all the peoples of our nation.”
“Your highest obligation is to restore public trust in government so that our people can trust what the right hands in government can demonstrate.”
“I believe in you, that the government can be a positive force for transformation and a vehicle for this country’s collective progress.”
“I wish you success in your new position.” We’re on this boat, even if it’s a car, and
We are the ones behind the wheel. The entire Nigerian population is sitting and watching as you and I drive this vehicle.
“We must hold each other accountable.” We must complete the task in order to meet the aspirations of all Nigerians.” View other News
